Reviewed August 27, 2011 We stayed here one night and wish we could have stayed longer. The guest house is ideal - very clean and well appointed. Decent internet connection and the owners are friendly and always willing to help. The "Bistro on Main" was a great little restaurant within walking distance, and the Pelican cafe at the harbour is a great place for lunch. Struisbaai is just a short drive from Cape Agulhas, which impressed us as it has not been over commercialized. All in all, this is a wonderful and overlooked part of South Africa to visit, and the Mermaid is the perfect place to park up for a night or three. We will be back.

Very friendly and helpful hostess, rooms very nice and clean, although a little on the small side. Free wifi! Breakfast was excellent! Hostess recommended Pelican Cafe for lunch and a place just on the other side of the main road for dinner. Both were very nice and the Pelican Cafe was so inexpensive and in a lovely spot by the harbour.
Would definitely recommend this B&B if you're in the area.
